The 401 through here is split into express and collector lanes, and choosing between them is a real skill rather than a formality. Committing to the express lanes before the 404 merge and then needing an exit that only the collectors serve costs ten or fifteen minutes with no way to recover them. Southbound at eight in the morning, the Yonge corridor, the DVP and Allen Road are all congested at once, and a passenger with a fixed meeting time either leaves earlier than they would like or holds the vehicle by the hour so the return leg is not a second exposure to the same problem.

Firms with offices in this district generally put those repeated trips on a corporate account, since the same journeys recur most weeks with different passengers.
